Types of Massage:
The best-known type of massage performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
Deep tissue massage:
This therapy is similar to a Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
Please consult one of our professional massage therapists if you think this massage is right for you.
Hot stone massage:
Hot stone therapy is a specialist massage that uses smooth, flat, heated basalt stones that are positioned along your spine, in the palms of your hands, along your legs and between the toes. The stones warm and relax your muscles, allowing deeper pressure to be applied during your massage.
Practiced for over two thousand years, this traditional therapy is designed to release tension in the body and ease the flow of "qi" throughout. Tui Na has some similarities to a Deep Tissue Massage, and uses kneading, chopping and stretching motions to relieve sore points and blockages in the body’s muscular system.
Back & Shoulder massage:
A more focused therapy which targets the upper body and is loosely based around the technique used in Swedish massage. At around 30 to 40 minutes, a back, neck and shoulders massage is a shorter treatment than a full body massage.
An alternative technique that involves manual pressure applied to specific points on the body in an attempt to relieve tension and pain. According to the Japanese healing treatment, Shiatsu massage uses thumbs, fingers, elbows, and knees to concentrate pressure at specific areas of the body.
